DEMUX is a DVD label promoting live audio- visual performance events, documentation and experimental works for screen.
It was initiated through a desire to address the lack of audience development opportunities that this type of practice deserves.
Live audio-visual performance has had a long history within recent art history,pushing at the edges of what we mean by contemporary practice. Avant garde movements such as fluxus, expanded cinema, experimental film, computer arts and more recently glitch have contributed to the expanded field of live audio-visual performance. With this rich history of experimental practice, demux seeks push live synesthesic media work into the next level.
